OUR COMMITMENT

Our mission is to empower and support the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community by educating and having radically inclusive conversations. Empower the LGBTQ community and our allies to take action to demand equality whether its inside or outside the LGBT rights movement. Social equality starts with holding ourselves and our current leadership accountable. We will not allow ourselves to be impacted by negativity but actively engage anyone that stands in the way of our civil rights. By creating a strategic plan and mobilizing tatctically with our organizational partners, we plan to take progressive steps toward achieving our civil rights. Get Equal Now is dedicated to giving youth LGBT leaders the tools to dismantle oppression through the use of writing, art, music, comedy, direct action and filmmaking. "BECOME THE CHANGE YOU SEEK!"

Get Equal Now's Education for All campaign, launched in May 2010, will assist with tackling mainstream homophobia and homophobic bullying in schools. We collaborate with a wide coalition of groups. More recently Get Equal Now has formed partnerships with other grassroot organizations to ensure the rights and needs of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals are addressed in the wider community.

Get Equal Now will continue to raise public awareness in terms of gay marriage, LGBT immigration related issues, transgender and transsexual equality and any action required to secure the passage of Employment Non-discrimination legislation that is “Trans” inclusive. We will educate with forums and workshops our community any proactive steps needed to validate LGBT positive sexual orientation workplace policies in order to protect both employers and employees. In addition Get Equal Now promotes new research and economic studies on issues such as hate crime, lesbian health, transgender/transsexual economic hardships, queer people of color economic oppression and homphobic bullying in schools.

JOIN US AND USE YOUR CREATIVITY TO GET EQUAL NOW!

GET EQUAL NOW gives workshops on racial injustice within the LGBT community as well as direct action in the 21st century. Please email getequalnowdallas@gmail.com to bring our workshops to your university, oqualrganization or pride celebration.

Below is a list of events where we have given the workshops or plan to give:

• Butch Voices Regional Conference - Dallas, TX - June 5, 2010
• Allgo - People of Color Retreat & Conference - July 9 - 11, 2010
• Texas Tech University - TBD - October 2010

GET EQUAL NOW will soon hold fundraisers for Youth First Texas and you can donate to the very worthwhile organization at youthfirsttexas.org. We will also hold fundraisers for our LGBT Youth Summit: Empowerment Conference, Music & Arts Festival. We want to teach young activist to empower their voices by using their gift whether it’s writing, music, comedy, art or filmmaking as a tool to fight for LGBT rights. Then we will plan a direct action with the young activists putting what they've learned into action. There are many ways to skin a cat and we should use all ways to fight against oppression. So, we will recruit from college campuses and organizations across the country to help create this venue to "empower the future to GET EQUAL NOW!"
